The University of The European Federation of Napoleonic Cities

The university of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities scheduled for September 2009 is postponed to 2010.  The programme of the university will remain the same and the definite date will be announced in the cours of October 2009. The university adresses students, academics, historians and members of historical associations.

In collaboration with Professor Jacques Olivier Boudon Sorbonne, President of the Institut Napoléon

and
Professor Rafe Blaufarb, State University of Florida
Director of the Institut about Napoléon and the French Revolution in Tallahassee (Florida, USA)

and
the city of Jena in Germany this University offers the theme:

9:30 : official opening of the summer university, greetings and information

10:30 : conference Nr. 1
context : « Bonaparte and the age of enligthenment »
conference theme : « Bonaparte and the Revolution »

16:00 : conference Nr. 2
context: « Europe and the Revolution »
conference theme : « Europe - from the absolutism to the Revolution, 1715 - 1815 »

Day 2

context: « Military Strategies»
conference theme: « The Napoleonic campaigns in central Europe and the East »
lecturer: Prof. Bruno Colson, University Namur (Belgium)

16:00 : conference/workshop Nr.1  : « The battle near Jena », visite of the battlefield

20:30: theme night - Debate with Prof. Andrzej Nieuwazny of the University of Torun, Pultusk (Poland)

Day 3

conference theme: « Napoleon Bonaparte - impact and apperception in Thuringia and Germany »
lecturer: Prof. Werner Greiling, University of Jena

16:00 : conference/workshop Nr. 2 : « Napoléon and the art of leadership » Prof. Rafe Blaufarb (Florida State University - USA) and Discussion with local entrepreneurs about « Napoléon and Management »

19:00: closing event
