How to become a member?
We are very pleased that you wish to become a member of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities. You are very welcome. Please find here some information about the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities. The Federation is an association of cities. A member city can mandate a third organisation to be represented. Officially, we are waiting for the decision of the administration, i.e. the mayor, of a city to join the federation. For your information, please find our membership protocol and its annexes. The annual fee for membership in the Federation is based on the number of inhabitants of a city, which we believe is a fair way to recognize the different financial situations of cities. Please see our annual membership fee schedule.
The Federation invites all public and private actors in the field of cultural tourism, art, education and all companies who wish to share the popularity of a great myth to join us in developing exciting new European projects. The designation "European Cultural Route" takes our imagination on a journey of discovery across the Old Continent, it is a way to reach out to the citizens of Europe and, with them, to discover and explore what has helped shape our contemporary identity.
Why become a member?
With the European Cultural Route label, the Council of Europe encourages co-operation and exchange in the fields of culture, education and tourism. The 39 European cultural routes on the continent serve interculturalism between the peoples of Europe. Our cultural route "Destination Napoleon" is a vector of cultural, economic and social development on a continental scale. It is part of the structures and initiatives supported by the cities. Destination Napoleon pools the expertise and opportunities offered by the network of its cities. It encourages the development of innovative initiatives, in particular by developing specific models of methodologies and tools such as the D-Lab (Digital Technology Laboratory for Cultural Routes) and an interactive map. The enhancement of the heritage that the Destination Napoleon itinerary proposes together with all the cities of its network produces effects of an economic and cultural nature, especially through tourism: for example, by creating signposted tours or ready-to-use products, which the Federation will promote at major European trade fairs and through its presence at major media, sporting or cultural events. All the cities in our Federation benefit from the European network within the Federation. This is the most visible advantage for the member cities: access to European projects, funds and exchange of good practices.
