Charles Bonaparte, Founder and Honorary Chairman

Charles Bonaparte founded the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities in 2004 and was its president until 2022.

After a doctorate in economics, Charles Bonaparte had a career in the senior civil service, investment banking and real estate. Elected in Ajaccio (Corsica), he created in 2004 the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities to develop cultural and tourist development projects with the cities crossed by the history of his ancestor.

In 2015, the Federation was certified as a European Cultural Route by the Council of Europe under the name "Destination Napoleon". It is now present in 13 European countries, from Portugal to the Russian Federation, while illustrating its vocation to participate in the construction of a Europe of peace through culture and history.

Vincent Chauvet, President

Vincent Chauvet, 34 years old, has been president of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities since 2022. Elected mayor of Autun in 2017 and re-elected in 2020, he has organised the celebration of the 250th anniversary of Napoleon Bonaparte's birth in his town in 2019.

A former student of the Lycée Louis-Le-Grand, HEC and SciencesPo Paris, he was during his studies the guide of the "Musée Napoléon", the museum of the imperial family in Dordogne. He is also a graduate in History from the University of Paris-IV Sorbonne where he was a student of Professor Jacques-Olivier Boudon, current President of the Federation's Scientific Committee.

He has also been a member of the European Committee of the Regions since 2020, where he sits on the Culture Commission.

Eleonora Berti, Director

Eleonora Berti joined the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities in March 2020 as deputy director, and took up her management position in January 2021.

Between 2009 and 2019, Eleonora has been working at the European Institute of Cultural Routes as Senior Project Officer. Among other tasks, she was responsible for coordinating the certification and evaluation process of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, for facilitating synergies with significant European and International organisations and networks, and for creating and coordinating a specific Network of Universities, in Europe and beyond. Graduated in 2006 in Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Florence (Italy), Eleonora has obtained in 2010 a PhD degree in Landscape Architecture and Planning, studying the connections between the Council of Europe Cultural Routes programme and the European Landscape Convention. In 2019-2020, she was Adjunct Professor at the University of Bologna, Department of Economics. Eleonora is Individual expert in the European Cultural Forum, created by the European Commission, DG EAC.

She is editor and author of the book “Cultural Routes management: from theory to practice”, edited in English and French by the Council of Europe in 2015 and translated into Romanian and Georgian, and of a number of chapters and articles on Cultural Routes, cultural heritage management, and sustainable development and tourism.

Arianna Duri, Coordinator

Arianna Duri joined the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities in September 2021 as a trainee, and took up her post as coordinator in April 2023.

She graduated in 2020 with a degree in Visual Arts from the University of Bologna (Italy), and in 2022 obtained a professional master's degree in Tourism and Cultural Heritage Management from the same university. During her studies, she worked as an assistant in a contemporary photographic art gallery, at the Civic Museum of Ancient Art in Bologna and in an online photography school.

Her studies and her passion for history and art led her to take part in an EVS project in France (Pays de la Loire and Brittany), concerning the preservation of cultural heritage. She also works freelance for a publishing house.
