Strong emotion in Hanau

Hanau Neustädter Rathaus 20101119

The European Federation of Napoleonic Cities learned with amazement of the horrific events that hit one of our member cities, Hanau in Germany.

All the cities in our network join forces with our President and our team to assure the authorities and the people of Hanau of their sympathy.

The motivations behind these crimes are at odds with the values of culture, democracy and peace that our Federation promotes across Europe.

We affirm here our most complete condemnation of these heinous crimes and the ideology that spawned them.

Hanau is a city in the Land of Hesse, on the Main, in Germany. It has nearly 100,000 inhabitants. It is a commercial and industrial city close to Frankfurt. It has been a member of the Federation since 2007 and was the scene of the battle that took place on October 30 and 31, 1813 when Austro-Bavarian troops attacked Napoleon's French army.
